Colyn's signature sound evokes transmissions of emotion through soaring nostalgic memories; although you've never heard anything quite like this before. Endless textures and delayed synth stutters fall into euphoric grooves each more infectious than the last.
Although it might seem he is new to the scene, and despite his young age, Colyn's dedication to his craft is timeless. He first started producing 9 years ago and has been building on it since. His initial breakthrough came when the popular duo ‘Tale of Us‘ picked up on his sound and started playing out his music regularly. With ‘Amor‘ getting signed to their successful imprint and event concept ‘Afterlife‘, he started to turn heads. Other artists such as Rüfüs Du Sol, Joris Voorn, Mind Against, Kölsch, Fideles, and Kevin de Vries heavily supported the record. Local Amsterdam hero, Joris Voorn even called it ’one of his favorite records of the year’ and Tomorrowland featured it as one of the soundtracks for their Official Aftermovie of 2019. When, at the time, ‘Resolve’ got featured on the ‘Afterlife Fans’ group, it didn’t take long for the rumors to surface.
As they snowballed, all indicators started pointing at Colyn. Resolve was featured as the lead track on his first EP on Afterlife, featuring 4 original tracks. His 'Resolve' EP received support from Tale of Us, Solomun, Adriatique, Pete Tong, Damian Lazarus, Stephan Bodzin, Artbat, Patrice Bäumel, Fideles, Konstantin Sibold, Kevin de Vries, Jennifer Cardini, Marcus Worgull, Marino Canal, and many others.
In November 2019 he released Khazad Dum on Oddity Records, which charted as #2 on Beatport’s Melodic House & Techno chart.
With the continuous support from Joris Voorn, a remix for Joris his Album //// was next. As Colyn took on the delicate broken beat melodies of album opener ‘Never’ he turned it into a dance floor friendly version, creating a more introspective mood. With his atmospheric 4/4 melodic techno touch, he retains the innocent, sorrow-tinged lead refrain in a subtle fashion. Driving, arpeggiated bass pushes the track along with unfussy percussion, haunting pads and strings floating in and out of the foreground.
On February 28th he released his hauntingly beautiful EP 'Concepts of Love' on Rüfüs Du Sol their label Rose Avenue, featuring lead single ‘Running', a dreamy piece with emotive vocals by his brother Maurits Colijn, woven through oscillating synths and a pulsing bassline. While ‘Concepts of Love’ is a scorcher full of distorted yet deeply euphoric synth work that pair with steady drums. Two out of this world weapons to carry the night.
